Vanessa Marry, LMSW
I have been in practice since 2010, and I opened this office in 2015.
I utilize a combination of therapeutic approaches in treatment, including psychodynamic, interpersonal, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. For me, an important part of putting these approaches into practice is to begin with the therapeutic relationship. The relationship between therapist and client can provide an opportunity for working through difficult emotions and experiences, both past and present. I strive to develop a nonjudgmental partnership with each person I see in therapy, keeping in mind that every person and situation is unique. This allows us, together, to explore and understand the issues that bring you to therapy and how to begin to resolve them.
I have experience working with clients of all ages. I have particular experience working with self-esteem issues, eating disorders, trauma, and anxiety/depression. I enjoy helping people who have found previous treatments to be less effective than they've liked.
I received by bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Bowling Green State University, and graduated with my master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Michigan. I have also received advanced clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Anne Parent, LLP
I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, then went on to teach 8th grade in South Carolina through the program Teach for America. After two years in the classroom teaching, I saw the desperate need for mental health services reaching adolescents at a time in their development when they needed it the most. I earned my Master's of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Carolina Aiken. My background as a teacher has made me passionate about providing empathetic and dedicated care to those struggling.
I have extensive experience working with those struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, self-esteem, body image, and substance abuse. I have 4 years of experience in the field of mental health and have worked across a variety of settings including outpatient substance abuse treatment, partial hospitalization, outpatient, inpatient psychiatric, and nonprofit. I believe that creating authentic and genuine connections with my clients is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic practices are built on identifying the strengths of my clients and addressing all aspects of their life that may be impacting their ability to function. My main treatment modalities are Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am also trained in and utilize motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction interventions. A hallmark of my practice includes continuing education and consistently pursuing knowledge of evidence-based practice (Iām a total psychology nerd!) and I can often be found poring over recent research published on eating disorders or substance abuse treatment.
Nature has been an integral part of my life since I was young: hiking in the woods with my parents, backpacking as a teenager, and now, finding peace in a walk in Maybury Park or on the Potawatomi Trail. As a therapist, I work to integrate the peace found in nature with the evidence-based practices of mindfulness interventions. I encourage my clients to build a connection to the world around them in order to live fulfilling lives. In my daily life, I have cultivated a personal meditation practice and love to explore how mindfulness can create a more balanced view of the world.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, singing, and playing my ukulele! I am also learning the Italian language (buona giornata!) because I love to travel to different parts of the world. I have traveled to Germany, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Ireland with hopes of traveling to Africa and India one day.
Nora Abbou, LMFT
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and have been practicing since 2015. I'm currently practicing full-time in a private practice outpatient setting, largely with clients struggling with eating disorders. I live in San Diego where I work full-time in private practice. I grew up in Michigan, and visit frequently throughout the year, as I still consider it to be my home! I have extensive experience working with women struggling with eating disorders at nearly all levels of care (residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient). I also work with families and couples in strengthening relationships and improving communication, and with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and general life dilemmas.
My approach is client-centered, empowering clients to embrace perceived weaknesses to utilize as strengths, while providing understanding, compassion, and support. Spirituality is also the foundation of many of our lives, and I have experience working with clients from a faith-based approach, integrating Christian values to promote healing.
