Vanessa Marry, LMSW

I utilize a combination of therapeutic approaches in treatment, including psychodynamic, interpersonal, strengths-based, and trauma-informed.  For me, an important part of putting these approaches into practice is to begin with the therapeutic relationship.  The relationship between therapist and client can provide an opportunity for working through difficult emotions and experiences, both past and present. This allows us, together, to explore and understand the issues that bring you to therapy and how to begin to resolve them.

I have experience working with clients of all ages. I have particular experience working with self-esteem issues, eating disorders, trauma, and anxiety/depression. I enjoy helping people who have found previous treatments to be less effective than they've liked.

In addition to psychotherapy, I also offer consultations and supervision to clinicians and small groups. These can be either one-time or ongoing, virtually or in-person throughout Michigan.

I received by bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Bowling Green State University, and graduated with my master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Michigan.  I have also received advanced clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I strive to develop a nonjudgmental partnership with each person I see in therapy, keeping in mind that every person and situation is unique.
